What we do
Rounitara Development Association is active both locally in Bacău and surrounding areas, in North-East Romania, and in Middlesbrough, Teesside and the North-East of England. We work alongside residents, institutions and partners to support Eastern European and Roma communities in both regions. Our work is practical, visible, and rooted in everyday community life, building bridges between communities that share similar values and realities.

Working with Chris Cook, Mayor of Middlesbrough
We engage with local leadership to ensure that community voices are represented at decision-making level and that inclusion remains a shared priority for Middlesbrough.
Working with Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation
Through sport-based community programmes, we support inclusion, wellbeing, and positive engagement for young people from Eastern European and Roma backgrounds.
Collaboration with Teesside University and York University
We work alongside academic partners to connect lived experience with research, ethics, and evidence-based dialogue around Roma and GRT inclusion.
Community Shop Initiative
We helped create a community space where residents can access informal support, information, and guidance in a trusted and welcoming environment.
Music Leadership and Cultural Workshops
Music plays a central role in our work, supporting cultural expression, confidence, and intergenerational learning through community-led workshops.
Community Support and One-to-One Engagement
Our community workers provide practical support to individuals and families, helping them navigate services and engage more confidently with local systems.
Football Group Coordination
We coordinate football groups that promote teamwork, routine, and social inclusion while offering young people positive and structured activities.
